Lace Bunting

Crafty Ribbons has some awesome lace in their shop.  They have all kinds of unique designs and this one has to be my favourite!  It comes white and I have dyed each triangle with a mix of Inktense pencils. I have then added some buttons , again from Crafty Ribbons huge selection, and sewn them on to match each triangle. Thanks for stopping by!

Shaker ATC tutorial

Another post I found hiding in my drafts folder...  I'm ashamed to say this was written in January 2016 but I didn't hit the publish button! I was asked by the wonderful Jessica Brogan , leader of the Card Deck Swap , to put together a tutorial for the ATC's I sent in a previous swap.  Here is what I put together... To make these shaker ATC’s you will need some sort of background, a transparent material and some small ‘shaky’ pieces.    I have used a watercolour background cut down to ATC size, and a playing card.   You could use patterned paper, mixed media artwork, magazine pages, book pages, fabric... the list is endless.     I’ve used netting/tulle, vellum and a glassine bag for the shaker fronts.   You could also try scrapbook page protectors, thick plastic packaging and acetate.    I’ve used sequins, beads and punched shapes as my shaky bits – anything small and relatively thin will work... try buttons, wood veneer shapes, die cut paper shapes

Wrapped

I was very chuffed with myself when I realised I could thread my '60' sequin confetti on to 3mm ribbon to tie around some gifts... I adore how it looks!  Wrapping paper from Proper Post, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and (ancient) sequins from deep in my stash!

The Chronicles of Herbert

Here is the title page for Herbie's scrapbook album. I am trying to keep to a theme of blues and greys, thread, sequins, flair and splatters through out the album.  If I manage to stick it will be the first time I have made a coordinated album! This perfect flair is from Cuts2luv. and I have raided my alpha stash for the title. Clean and simple and just how I like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down

Welcome to my Stick It Down post for May.  This month's sketch is so fun... I was going to do a whole load of rubber stamping but chickened out and went down the silhouette route instead! I do love how it turned out though... The vellum is from Claudia's collection from Pretty Little Studio.  Actually, everything bar the sequins and cardstock are designed by Claudia! I went very literal with my interpretation of the sketch and used 'hello' - I fancy having another go and switching things up a bit!  Hope to see you over on the Stick It Down blog with your take on the sketch!

Monkey's Fist Bookmark

Hi Folks!  I'm here today with a quick nautical bookmark for Crafty Ribbons... I took two lengths of  By The Sea Lighthouse ribbon and sewed them back to back turning the ends under neatly.  I then grabbed some garden twine and found a tutorial to make a monkey's fist knot.  I work better with visual instructions so I found a video to follow along with. I attached this at the bottom and was finished.  I think it has quite a big impact for something that took very little work! Thanks for looking!

UKSA

I am over on the UK Scrap Addicts blog today.  Here is the sneakiest peek... We are working with sketches this month.  I've condensed a double page sketch down to a single page layout. I hope you'll pop over for a look-see!

A Moodboard Challenge...

UK Scrap Addicts final challenge of the day is to make a layout inspired by this moodboard. I started off very fixed on the moodboard but it seems to have strayed quite a lot!!  I guess you still have the basic colours and the watercolour feel, it also features a drink which is apt but I threw in a load of copper too.

FTLOPP video hop!

I'm taking part in a video hop challenge over on the For The Love Of Pretty Paper facebook group.  Pop over and take a look! This started as another layout as a mixed media background.  I hated how it turned out and it sat unloved for 5 weeks!  I decided rather than throw it away I would cut it up.  I like it as small pieces (thankfully!) The orange stars are hand cut, the vellum stars are a free cut file from SpiegelMom Scraps. Lots of sewing with the machine.  Straight lines are over rated! Can you count the layers on the mixed media stars?  I reckon there are at least 7. Many of those layers had glitter or shimmer in the which adds so much in my opinion. Thanks for looking!

Stitch Your Sequins

SpiegelMom Scraps are celebrating NSD with a Instagram extravaganza...  here is my contribution to the challenges.  Very simple - attach your sequins with stitching. I've documented a yoghurt that is seemingly named after me!  I must talk to them about royalties!! I've used Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart and two sequin mixes: Wild & Free and  Be True 2 U . There are also a few stickers from Hazelwood thrown in for good measure! I hope you can join us on Instagram for some scrappy fun!

NSD & UKSA

Happy NSD!  UK Scrap Addicts have a few freebie cut files today.  One is designed by me and called 'Ornate Fleur de Lis'.  You can pop over here to download it and find out how to join our challenge. I've made a monochrome layout with the cut file.  Most of the supplies are from March's like for ever kit, with added sequins. This was my first attempt at a wonky two sided border.  In hindsight I think I could have gone for even more of an angle. I love the detail of tying the loose sewing threads in to bows. I love this layout, probably because it uses 'that blue rose paper' from Maggie Holmes!  I really should have bought a couple more pieces!!

By The Sea

You know I am a big fan of ribbon and using ribbon in scrapbooking... so I was delighted when Crafty Ribbons agreed to sponsor a challenge UK Scrap Addicts are running to cleebrateNational Scrapbooking Day.  You can find the details over here but have a little look at this first... I made this layout for barely any money.  People (me included!) get so caught up in the new products and pretty supplies and sometimes the consumerism takes over the scrapping.  This is made from the front cover of a catalogue (Sea Salt), tissue paper (that came around some china trinkets), a few sequins, a paper clip and a bit of ribbon. The embellishments are fussy cut from the paper. As is the title.  I attached it with a couple of stitches. Isn't the pattern fabulous? The ribbon comes in the form of 3mm grosgrain tied to the paperclip and cotton twill used as a layer behind the photo - both from Crafty Ribbons. Thanks for stopping by!

Mandala

NSD madness!!  I love it!  Here is a layout made for UK Scrap Addicts using a free mandala cut file . I've used a Lottie Loves Paper kit featuring Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild At Heart. You can watch the process video here! I used the age old 'back each section with a different pattern' method!  It's not speedy but it always gives great results. I backed a few sections with sequins too - SpiegelMom Scraps new mix ' ' is a perfect match! Join us on the UKSA blog for tonnes of challenges and prizes today!

Sunshine And Happiness

If I've got my tmingsright SpiegelMom Scraps current IG challnege is to use spring colours on a layout... For me, it doesn't get any more springier than daffodil yellow! I've used a load of Shimmerz products to colour behind my cut file including Sour Apple green Dazzlerz , Yell-O it's Me Paste-eez and half a dot of Ruby Spritz to orange up the Yello-O.  The cut file is from UK Scrap Addicts and you can download it for free here . The stripe of Summer Paradise sequins are held on with super sticky red backed tape... feeling the urge to do a stripey layout soon! Do hop over to IG and join the SMS crew!

Aubretia

SpiegelMom Scraps are having an Instagram party with Wild Whisper throughout the NSD weekend.  There will be a new challenge released every 4-5 hours. The first challenge is to repeat the dominant colour in your photo with inks and sequins... So I have gone all out purple!  I love it! These flowers are just beautiful in colour and form and it was so fun to create inspired by them. I've used sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps including some from the following mixes: Sweat Pea, A Mermaid's Tale, Summer Paradise . and Shimmerz in: Don't Be a Pansy Paste-eez, I Lilac You Dazzlerz , Grapetastic Dazzlerz . Here is the process video...

Baby Name Box Frame

Well, I started a bit of a thing!  I made a box frame and then 'needed' to make one for all of the little uns in my life!  I won't share them all at once, today here is Jesse's... This was focused on using some dinosaur buttons from StickerKitten.  All the papers are Wild Whisper as the colours were a good match. The dinosaur confetti is made with rubber stamps, again from StickerKitten and shrink plastic. I love the fact I have fooled myself in to thinking this is for my nephew... it's totally for me really!  I just wanted to make dinosaur confetti!! I added a few sequins too because I'm a firm believer that sequins are not just for girls! I've been asked a few times if I will make these on commission - I will.  Drop me an email and we'll chat.  Postage is stupid and unfortunately, that cost will fall to you, but the box frame itself is very reasonable! Thanks for stopping by!
