Baby Boy

Well, this is my last blog post for SpiegelMom Scraps before switching over to the Instagram squad.  You know by now I like my layouts clean and simple with white space and also, monochrome. Here, I have picked all of the flowers out of Chasing Azul (I have them tucked away for something else, keep an eye on the Instagram account!) I've tinkered with this month's freebie cut file.  I duplicated Baby, cut out the a, rotated the b and altered it in to an o.  Then I joined them all back together and cut our Baby Boy from vellum. I added a flair button amongst a vertical line of sequins and called it done.  To make sure I had a guide to follow when lining up my sequins I drew a few sketchy pencil lines.  I figured that at least some little bits would show so picked a pencil that matched the sequins. Thanks for stopping by!

Fairy Jar

I have something a little out of the ordinary to share with you today... It's a ribbon fairy in a jar of mushrooms!  Bear with me here...  ;) The first thing I thought of when I saw the Spring Ribbon Mushrooms from Crafty Ribbons was fairies.  I decided to try and make a miniature fairy to live among the mushrooms. I've used a couple of beads for her head and body, 2mm silk ribbon for her arms and legs, seam binding and silk ribbon for her skirt and lace for her wings. I also made a couple of mushrooms from Swiss Dot grosgrain and wire stems.  I suspended the fairy on a thread so it looks like she is flying. Totally bonkers but so much fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Love to capture the moment

I found this post languishing in my drafts...  it's from early March, I think, hopefully not early February! I made this one for a challenge on the Lottie Loves Paper facebook group.  There were a few ingredients on a recipe - tag, yellow, 3 patterned papers, sequins, flair/button. I used my like for ever kit and a cut file from Just Nick.  Each of the sections of the cut file was backed with a different piece of patterned paper - I usually just cut and stick but I spent time choosing exactly which colour/pattern I wanted showing in each section! Sequins are SpiegelMom Scraps My Clementine and What's Up Buttercup.  The flair is from Accent Scrapbooking.  I have a bit of a thing about buying flair but very rarely use them - naughty!  I will make an effort to use flair on layouts for the next month... you'll have to hold me accountable, dear readers! Thanks for stopping by!

Herbert

Hello!  I'm over on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog with a photo-less layout today. I gathered some sequins; 2 Cool 4 U,   What's Up Buttercup , Green Acres , Salt of the Earth and strung them onto some thread.  The flair is from Cuts2Luv and Evalicious. The main focus, instead of photos, is on some dictionary definitions of Herbert's name. And as the layout says, one is definitely more apt than the other!!  (I still love him to pieces) All the colour comes from sequins, flair, thread and ink splatters.  You can stock up on your inks here and use the code Laura15 for a nice discount! Bunny Butt Bunting

UK Scrap Addicts gave away a cute free cut file on Thursday.  It's designed by my friend Emma and she called it Bunny Butt - what's not to love?! I set my Silhouette Cameo to cut a warren of rabbits and set about making some bunting for Easter. I started off with my ribbon - Swiss Dots Organza ribbon in a colourway exclusive to Crafty Ribbons.  I matched my watercolours to the dots on the ribbon and messily splashed paint over the bunnies.  When that was dry I splattered a load of gold ink over them.  It kind of looks like the mottled eggshells on Mini Eggs! I pulled a few felt hearts from SpiegelMom Scraps and a handful of paperclips and clipped the bunnies at a regular-ish distance apart across the ribbon.  Really simple.  Well, I struggled with a few of the paperclips, actually, but it should have been simple!! I don't have a good place to hang bunting to photograph it, so this is the best I can offer for a hanging photo... You can watch it com

together 2

This layout was made as a DT piece for like for ever.  Unfortunately, lfe has now closed and this layout didn't quite make it to their blog (I like to work ahead of time, in case my M.E. gives me jip!) It's a bittersweet share.  I miss the club terribly already.  I'm not going to buy any new supplies until I have worked my way through the part-used kits I have - I guess it is a scrappy diet. This was also my monthly foray into coloured backgrounds rather than my safe go-to of white cardstock.  I adore this sheet of coloured paper but I'm not entirely happy with the outcome of the layout.  However much I try to like my scrapping on coloured backgrounds I never seem to be quite as happy as when I work on white. There are two posts coming tomorrow, and I hope to be back to blogging more regularly soon! Thanks for dropping by!

Scraplift Swap!

I've been missing my scrappy mojo since like for ever closed.  I was messing around on Facebook when a post from Claire popped up - did anyone want to swap layouts to scraplift?  Perfect, I thought, I can scrap one of her layouts to get me going again... Here are the results: My original and Claire's take Claire's original and my take And here it is in a little more detail... I used a background stamp from Simon Says Stamp and third, fourth and fifth generation stamping.  I journalled a lot underneath the vellum heart, just writing over the top of the previous layer so none of it is legible. The sequins are SpiegelMom Scraps Build A Snowman and the stars are Cocoa Vanilla Studio.  I was beginning to wonder if I had upset Claire as I was sewing.  I don't like hand sewing on layouts and I reinforced to myself why - I needled myself.  I'm used to sticking a needle in my finger but this time I got my boob!!! And although I am not the world

I'm up on the UK Scrap Addicts blog today... please hop over and have a read

Cutting Up a Cut File!

I usually cut a few bits on my Silhouette Cameo when I have it out.  This means some cuts don't get used right away, and sometimes the edges end up damaged.  Rather than throw this large background piece away I decided to cut it apart, discard the damaged bits and keep the good bits!  The file is from The Cut Shoppe. I backed a few of the petal sections with the gorgeous blue roses paper from Maggie Holmes' Chasing Dreams.  I adore this pattern and colour and I'm using it really sparingly! Incidentally, it is a perfect match for Pandora's Ombre sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps. I filled a glassine bag with some Pandora's Ombre and got a little sad that I had used nearly all of my supply.  I emptied about half out and threw in some tiny cheap white sequins that have been in my stash for nearly a decade!  I don't use them as they are not perfect but behind glassine you can't tell. I then used the left over Pandora's Ombre sequins to e

Stick It Down ~ April

Hello!  I'm the featured designer for the single page sketch at Stick It Down this month.  Here is the sketch we are working with... Another of my favourites... I wonder if folks will struggle with this one as they did with last months? I had a lie down on the floor and Mr Herbert decided to come and play with me.  He ended up sitting on my nose talking to me! All my supplies for this layout are from Pretty Little Studio except for the flair... which are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio, Cuts2Luv and Pretty Little Studio. Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out Stick It Down this month.
