Animals with Crafty Ribbons

Hi there, it is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons challenges .  This weeks theme is Animals and here is my contribution... I've used my June like for ever kit and some organza Swiss dot ribbon. My ribbons are layered and tied in a bow.  I used torrid orange/white , black/white and light blue/white all colours picked out to match the patterned paper. I was so pleased to get photos of a skylark.  I love my skylarks and to get this close sitting in the car in a lay-by was fabulous.  I watched from take off, all the way up displaying, and then back down to land, singing the entire time. Thanks for stopping by!

18 TODAY

I saw an appeal on Facebook for birthday cards for a girl who is terminally ill.  I made her this shaker card... I didn't line up the front of the card very well so I added a piece of lace across the top.  I like it and kind of wish it had been part of the design from the start!! The sequins are from SpiegelMom Scraps , lace from Crafty Ribbons and the rest from deep in my stash.  Here is the how-to: Thanks for stopping by!

Gnomes!!

I have a 'welcome' sign to share today... For me (a massive ribbon fan) it is always exciting when we get word from Ali at Crafty Ribbons that new ribbons are coming soon.  When I opened my parcel I giggled - garden gnomes!  Who'd have thunk it? But boy are they fun!  You can find them here .  My favourite is the bee ribbon - I think it'll be featuring heavily in my future work! Linking up at Inspire Me Mondays , Avenue 613 (gardens and bee) and Try It On Tuesday (bee)

8.5x11

I have been persuaded to try scrapping in a different size.  I am confident with 12x12 layouts so have never seen a reason to try something else.  I've recently been drawing up some sketches and enjoyed designing in 8.5x11 so I thought I would have a go at making one too... It is made with last month's like for ever kit. Can't beat a bit of bunting! I added some texture to the background with Shimmerz Dazzlerz paste.  I love the mixed font title, I really must try this more often! Thanks for stopping by!

EGR

Exciting times... I have a sketch featured for like for ever's Sunday Sketch .  Here it is: And here is my (incredibly literal) take using the latest like for ever kit ' carefree ' The butterflies are the other half of the cut file (by Juliana Michaels ) that I used on this layout . I added in some Peachy Sherbet sequins and Dazzlerz in Dreamsicle from the SpiegelMom Scraps store (use the code Laura15 when you place an order and get a nice little discount!) I picked out coordinating threads to attach the butterflies to the page.  I love to add butterflies this way as you get lots of dimension.  And I don't mind that I had to thread the sewing machine up eight times!  And because they are vellum you get the gorgeous Fancy Pants paper showing through. I wanted to add a title but couldn't come up with anything more than the initials - it's enough for me.  Here is a process video: Thanks for stopping by and if you have a go at a

authentic (obviously!)

I love to document the weird and wonderful in my scrapbooking... well this fits in to that category!  My Mum was given some French onions for her birthday from friends who had been in France for a show.  These particular onions are legendary, and they did taste better than 'normal' ones! I have noticed that my layouts either feature sequins or enamel dots.  I had not consciously kept them apart but that is how it seems.  Even though I class them both as final finishing touches there is no reason they cannot be used together - so I did!  I also hand dyed a piece of lace from Crafty Ribbons to mimic the tricolore (French flag). Continuing on with the French theme I strung some of the gorgeous 10mm Moonshine Delight sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps on blue, white and red threads.  I layered them over some giant scalloped glitter washi tape.  The gold washi on its own was too much for me so I also included the white paper backing the washi comes on.  Incid

CANDLES

Rather chuffed with this layout... you see I have a new obsession - giant scalloped gold glitter washi tape! You see it there at the bottom in all it's scallopy goodness, but also covering the wood veneers. I've also used sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps ( black ) and a tube of star shaped sequins from the garden centre that must be 15 years old!  The washi and the paperclip came from like for ever .  And you can get loads of lace from Crafty Ribbons . I was inspired by Pretty Little Studio's sketch , although I switched the photo orientation. I adhered one photo by just two sides and slipped in a tag with journalling. And I used more of the giant scallop washi to cut a free hand title. The only problem I have is this wonderful washi only comes in one colour and I want it in ALL the colours!! Thanks for stopping by!

Mint Chip

Ah, mint chip sequins , don't tell the others... but you are my favourite! I'm up on the SpiegelMom 's blog with this little bracelet today.  Put together with two types of jump rings, two types of sequins and two pairs of pliers! Thanks to my model Mum for being so patient while I photographed it!

Are You Reading?

Hi there!  It is new challenge day at Crafty Ribbons today and our theme is Anything Goes with Ribbon.  I have gone with a 12x12 layout... The supplies are from my like for ever kit, flair from Hey Little Magpie and ribbon, of course, from Crafty Ribbons ! I went with the squares frames to qualify me for Challenge YOUrself whose theme is geometric.  I seem to have quite a collection of circles too with all the Swiss dots! I had some fun with my gelatos on the background - I really have taken a shine to them now! You can watch my process here: Thanks for stopping by!

*squeak*

I am very excited to announce I am joining Stick It Down as a single page design team member and sketch artist... Let the fun commence!

Grow

I think this is the first layout I've shared that has been made with like for ever's June kit She Blooms. I struggled with this - it feels too pink to be me!  In addition to kit supplies I used some sequins, the pinks from SpiegelMom Scraps, and the mint from a lfe kit from last year!  I may have 4 mint sequins left now... I added plenty of foam tape for dimension and did a little fussy cutting making embellishments for the photo. I adore the glossy black hearts - I could do with a pack in every colour!! You can watch my process here: Thanks for stopping by!

My Universe

Oh boy!  I had fun with the metallic shiny paints and mists on this one!! I'm trying to do some layouts that are not on a white background.  (Quite why I decided to go for a black sheet instead of a patterned sheet I can't tell you...)  Any way, black sheet on my desk - lots of staring - umming and aahing...  When I get to this stage there are two things I can do.  1 - give up and do something else.  2 - find a layout that inspires me and CASE it!  I turned to my Sparklers team mate Yulia , and this is what happened. I used a combination of paints, Heidi shines, spray mists and Shimmerz paints to achieve my background.  Whilst I had the mists out I dyed a doily too. I coloured some wood veneer stars in a bright blue.  When matting my photo I wanted some more of this blue.  Not having anything in my stash that matched I painted some card with the mist so it matched perfectly. I started adding a few sequins from the Glass Slipper mix , then some stars from

Proper Post and What I Made...

I recently discovered a new British business called Proper Post .  They have a sub box each months with cards and stationery.  Alongside the lovely cards this month was a packet of confetti and a roll of copper washi tape... well I had to scrapbook with them, didn't I?! Black, white and copper was the box colour scheme - classy and fun. The confetti arrived in a glassine bag with a copper paperclip - they both got used too. I snuck in a piece of ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.  I added a few alphas from my stash to the first layout, and a little bit of ink too. The second layout focusses on the confetti... I added a flair from Feed Your Craft nestled on a thread nest, and some pearly paint splatters. I was surprised how much fun I had lining up the confetti pieces... it appealed to the inner neat freak! And I finished it off with a large chipboard j covered in the wonderful copper washi. You can find out about Proper Post here and here ! Thank

London Baby!

Hi Guys,   I’m back with another DT piece for Crafty Ribbons Challenges .   This week’s theme is MASCULINE/TRANSPORT picked by Marg. I’ve made a layout... My background uses the fabulous London bus ribbon taped down and knocked back a bit with gesso. I hand cut my title from kraft, and used simple layers for matting my photo.  I kept to a limited colour pallet of white red and black (all in the ribbon) and kraft. A little sprinkle of enamel dots and paint splatters finished it off nicely. Pop over and join us at Crafty Ribbons Challenges !
