Star Wreath

Guest Designer post number 2 went live at like for ever yesterday, and I'm sharing it here today... The scrapping fashion is to make a December Daily style album, making a page each day in December capturing your festive celebrations.  I don't do enough to warrant a whole album so I will use this page to mark the start of my Christmas 2015 layouts in my general album. I've used the Shimelle, Pink Paislee and one of the Cocoa Vanilla papers from the Wish List kit and cut a whole bunch of stars.  You can grab the cut files here . I've added a few stars and a bow - add ons from Cocoa Vanilla.  And some jingle bells from Crafty Ribbons.  Bells may be appearing on most of my projects at the moment!! Created as much texture and dimension as possible! So much fun! I am loving this kit, and the opportunity to guest design.  You can see my GD posts here ! Thanks for stopping by!

Jumper

I was rather struck by a sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy , and this is what happened... All of the supplies are from like for ever's Wish List kit, plus a few sequins from my stash. I trimmed the wood veneer as the arrow was pointing the wrong way.  They are very easy to cut, and I added a bit of inktense pencil to the cut edge to darken it.  I stuck a pin to the back to make a little flag.  I trimmed out a couple of reindeer - I just love this sheet of patterned paper!  (I have/had five sheets!!) The background is a beautiful combination of art bars, Shimmerz, inktense pencils and embossed cardstock.  I try to photograph the shimmer every time I use shimmerz - I'm yet to catch on camera what I see in real life. I decided I needed to stitch the large alphas down.  Rather than just one lonely line of stitching I added a few lines - the paper doesn't need the stitching to hold it down, but I like the effect. Linking up at Let's Get Sketchy.

Huge excitement over here...  I have been invited to be guest designer for like for ever this month.  This in itself is beyond belief but then to find out that the kit would be featuring Cocoa Vanilla products... well, they are just my favourite company ever .  It couldn't be any better!  I am one lucky girl.  So I thought I'd better make some knock out projects... First up I made this tiny-mini-album-tin-keep-sake to celebrate a friends wedding. I've written about it on the like for ever blog here . I had a little problem getting the album out of the tin but this was easily solved by adding a ribbon tab to the base of the tin.  A little tug on the ribbon and it pops out. The happy couple are a photographer and a glass work bead maker.  I made a charm to reflect this using beads made by the bride - the fabulous Rebecca Weddell - and a wooden camera from Cocoa Vanilla. The tin that holds the album came with a magazine as a freebie.  It had a small t

Penguin Mini Stocking

A fairly simple make for my DT piece for Crafty Ribbons this week...  The theme is Christmas Stockings with Ribbon picked by our lovely Christelle . I cut two simple sock shapes from green felt and blanket stitched them together with red.  I added the trio of penguins from the Festive Combos range. Aren't the penguin buttons the cutest?  I am thinking of dressing my Christmas tree with them! Come and join us over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges !

Ribbon Christmas Tree

When I received the main feature range of Christmas ribbons - Christmas Charm - from Crafty Ribbons I was instantly in love with the colours.  Not the standard bright red, but a slightly darker shade and a few gorgeous greens.  I wasn't sure what I was going to make but this idea formed and grew... I glued strips of ribbons on to calico (re-purposed from a fabric storage unit) and cut out two tree shapes.  I zig zag stitched them together leaving a hole at the bottom.  I used some toy stuffing to give it a little body and placed it on a kitchen roll holder!  Yes, that's right... the stem and base is a kitchen roll older - it was the right size so why not?!  Perfect upcycling! I finished the bottom edge with a couple of widths of lace, in scarlet and kiwi . This tree is on display on the Crafty Ribbons exhibition stall.  If you'd like to make one you can free style the shape and get the supplies on the list below, or grab a kit to make a smaller hanging versi

Green Hearts

Sharing a quick card today. For my birthday in May my brother and sister in law bought me some craft supplies.  One of the things in my goody bag from them was a string garland of white hearts.  I sprayed them with a few inks and have slowly been working my way through the 3 meter length!  For this card I added a few gold sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. Thanks for stopping by!

hello

This would be my new favourite if it wasn't for the heart shaped photos.  I just can't get on board with the fact I've cut in to her head...  The rest of the layout I love! I used heart die cuts from Things That Shine.  Some I paint with my Art Bars, others I backed with patterned paper from my Like For Ever kit. I layered them all up on white tissue paper and stitched them in to place inside a washi square. The title is from the sticker sheet, and a few other stickers are placed around the page. And I went a little splatter happy and flicked little droplets of colour all over. What do you think of the shaped photos.  I think I'm going to get the photos reprinted and crop them differently... Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW

It's tidy!! Apart from the containers awaiting pretty stash to be laid out in them ready for the next project.  To my right... Well yes, there is still quite a lot of stuff there.  Much less than there once was though, and that my friends is progress! To my left... Kammy the Silhouette who will be working hard this afternoon.  I've tried my hand at designing a few cut files.  Of course I have no idea about the computery side of things so whether they will work is yet to be seen. Thanks for popping by, leave me a comment and I'll be sure to check out your desk too!

darling baby bird

Here we are with the third completely different colour palette from my October kit from Like For Ever.  This time we've matched the slightly bonkers yellow with an old photo of a slightly bonkers bird!! This was the first day I got Billy, she was so young.  Of course at this point we thought she was a boy... Again I made a big effort with the sticker sheet, and added enamel dots, and this time sequins too, from my stash I added a vellum pocket with yellow stitching in the layering behind the photo... and added a tag with some hidden journalling.  I'm going through a phase of really missing having a pet here with me, so I got it all out on the tag. Turns out I rather like the look of these gold stickers... maybe it's the start of using stickers more easily on my layouts. Linking my feathered friend up at Quirky Crafts. Thanks for stopping by!

BIG & little

Another layout using my Like For Ever October kit... this one with a completely different feel.  I love that with these kits, you can get several different colour palettes from the kit giving totally different flavours.  This one is rather feminine, the last lovely blues, and the next one I'll share will be different again. To the kit supplies I added seam binding and lace in white, enamel dots from a previous kit and alphas from my stash. I wanted touches of yellow but pushed it back by layering under vellum and lace. The tags were looking a little lost with no thread so seam binding to the rescue! I often struggle with the sticker sheets.  This time with no ephemera pack I made a real effort to get some of the stickers on each layout I made. I used the gorgeous vellum pocket as a base for my title.  More stickers, and the overprint left on the sticker sheet trimmed out and added too.  I love that the title starts with "DESCRIPTION", and this

Bobby knows...

Sharing a fun layout using my Like For Ever October kit Hello Beautiful. I absolutely adore this ombre blue heart paper.  It's one I could quite easily have stashed away as too pretty to cut! I added a little mixed media to the background.  Watercolour pencils, art bars and some navy blue stamping.  I added a few pieces of one of the rolls of washi included in the kit too. Then I searched through all of my 'mostly used up' little alphabets.  A pencil, paper, and a lot of fiddling around and I worked out if I pulled from six alphabets and turned two U's in to R's I could work this title. Then I went about layering and prettying... mini bunting from off cuts;  threads; tissue paper layers; label stickers; So much fun to put together! Thanks for stopping by

Santa Tin

I'm up on the Crafty Ribbons Inspirations blog today with this Christmas tin... I've had this tin for a while so I re-purposed it by covering up the slogan on the lid and decorating it all Christmassy.  Perfect for giving home made mince pies as a gift. I've used the Santa Festive Combo - character ribbon, ho ho ho ribbon and a wonderful Santa shaped button.  I added paper, a tag and sequins from my stash. Bring on the mince pies!! Thanks for stopping by today!
