Mum

This layout is a lift of Missy Whidden for My Scraps and More.   I played with the free cut file until I had it how I wanted it... Backed my hexagons with pieces of paper from August's Like For Ever kit. I added a doiley from Spiegel Mom Scraps and some of my favourite Crafty Ribbons lace . I love these gold shaped paper clips.  And I'm quite fond of these white star sequins too! My mixed media work was done with Shimmerz paints, mixed with a little Inktense to get the right shade.  I finished off with a splattering of gold acrylic paint. I do like the effects of the Shimmerz... I'm still unable to capture it's true beauty on camera!  I'll keep trying though!

4 Shapes

Like For Ever 's Scrappy Sunday challenge this week is to use four different shapes on your project. Autumn Days I've made two layouts, first up using September's Acorn Avenue kit... The colours in the kit are stunning - but you could just as easily make a neutral layout using the b-sides too.  I went brighter for this first layout. The ephemera pack is, well, packed!  I picked out some hearts and acorns and made a garland. These thickers didn't shed any glitter, which was a relief as last time I used glitter thickers I got a bit of glitter in my eye.  Ouch! Adding to the hearts and acorns, I used squares of patterned paper and circular sequins.  Four shapes easily achieved - to think I worried it would be tricky! B This is my back up layout using August's kit in case September's kit arrived late, or arrived on time but I wasn't well enough to get a layout made!  I chose square, triangle, heart and circle for this layout.

Egg Cosy

It is challenge time at Crafy Ribbons Challenges .  The Team Boss Carol picked the theme of 'lace' and I have whipped up an egg cosy... Hiding under it is my Beatrix Potter egg cup that I had as a child!  Happy memories, I loved Mrs Tiggywinkle.  Anyway, getting back to topic... I have used the chicken ribbon from the Summer Festival range.  I trimmed them bottom with Morlaix lace . If you make anything with ribbon and lace over the next two weeks be sure to link up at Crafty Ribbons Challenges ! Thanks for stopping by!

Dream Catcher

Well this is the most enjoyable project I have made in a while!  Isn't it fun?!    To make one you'll need a selection of ribbons and the inside of a roll of sticky tape! I added strings of buttons and lace to my ribbon dangles.  I added some vellum feathers to the end of some of the ribbons. The tape roll (I used the inside of a 3mm double sided roll) is simply wrapped in ribbon until it is covered.  Then to make the web I followed some instructions I found online .  It is quite simple when you get going, but describing it is pretty tricky! Here is a list of the ribbons and laces I used - all from Crafty Ribbons. Chantilly Anna Lace Chantilly Mollie Lace Organza Swiss Dot White/White 3mm Island Blue 3mm Petal Peach 3mm Peach 3mm Blue Vapour Swiss Dot Blue Vapour Swiss Dot Island Blue/Peach Heart Buttons Basic Buttons Pastel Basic Buttons Mixed Basic Buttons Baby Blue Now, that is quite a list - you can make one with any ribbons you have - b

Little You

This layout is made from pieces from my Like For Ever kit from August.  All the pieces were cut for previous layouts or were left overs from previous layouts - I used no scissors to make this! I had some mixed media fun on the background using my Derwent Art Bars and Shimmerz inks. The 'B' tab was minty green and was just not working, so I pressed it on to a navy ink pad.  A little of the green shows through which is nice, and then I outlined it with a gold pen.  Lastly I strung some Studio Calico woodgrain star sequins on some navy thread and draped the down the edge of the photos. LFE: Sunday Sketch

Sunday means Like For Ever have a challenge.  It a just for fun thing and alternates each week between a sketch and a general challenge.  This week was a sketch... And here is my take... I've used my Like For Ever kit from August (although you don't need a kit to join in with us.)  I'm very excited as September's kit will arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday. I negotiated with the letter stickers... I had an E left but it was the wrong colour so I add part of an exclamation mark to an F.  I had run out of T's but made one from a 4.  A few strategically placed dots of gold paint conceal the joins. Having followed the sketch pretty accurately, albeit mirrored, I found my layout needed something more to the left of the photo.  After consulting with the boss (a.k.a. Mum a.k.a. My Pet Crocheter) I added some stitching and a small gold triangle.  Mum isn't a scrapbooker but she is jolly handy to have as a second pair of eyes... Pretty please

Scrapping Away

I did manage to do all the things I needed to do yesterday - woo for me!  So todays reward was a little scrappy time.  I've used my Like For Ever kit for August that has been sitting a little neglected.  It's a lovely kit though.  (Hoping for some more energy to get some more layouts made.) At the end of last month I cut a whole load of files on my cameo.  Because I was switching between different types of cardstock one file got cut on the wrong settings.  I think I made it work though... The sections that cut properly were few and far between - again totally my fault with the settings - so I selected a few ad finished off the cutting with my craft knife.  I went with more cut outs in the bottom corner and tailed off diagonally.  Then I grabbed all the non-pink papers, cutaparts and ephemera from my kit.  The cut file is from The Frugal Crafter . I ended up with a lovely mix of green, greys, creams and blacks.  I randomly backed the semi circle shapes with small

WOYWW 328

Today is officially get butt in gear day.  I will blog instead of thinking about blogging.  I will desk instead of thinking about desking!  I will finish off the things I've said I will make and post them off... There is a box of unfinished keyrings - they'll be finished by lunch time. A bottle of Jif (I won't call it Cif!) because I cleaned fabric glue off my glass cutting mat yesterday. The 'widger' because I've got Tipping Point on in the background. A half done layout because this is what I'd be doing if others things didn't need to be done! It could do with a bit of a tidy... but I've got things to do ;) Thanks for stopping by, see you at your desk !

Scrappy Sunday #9 at Like For Ever was to take inspiration from one of your scrap crushes and retain 1 colour and 3 design elements from their layout. This is a lift of Vickie ... her layout was, in my eyes, perfect.  Mine is not.  Maybe because I started out with Vickie's beautiful black white and red in my mind I became disappointed with the blue on my version...  I'm not sure.  Let me take you through it; Perhaps it is the black swiss crosses are too bold... I knicked the layout, the gold, and the black white and one other colour scheme from Vickie. The gold alphas are from a Like For Ever kit months back.  I only have a G and an O left now... pretty impressed with that!  I use an anagram finder, add the letters I have remaining and it generates words for me. The journalling and "quotes" are pretty self explanatory.  Nephy Dude says NO.  A lot! I love the gold glitter stickers... they were an add on to this months Like For Ever kit.  I'

TASTY

This mint lace from Crafty Ribbons is quickly becoming my go to lace.  It seems to match perfectly with every scrapbooking collection I've been playing with recently. Ans yes, a whole 12x12 layout about cheesecake.  Cheesecake is big in my life! I sometimes get 'full-kit-itous' and 'un-cut-sheet-wobbliness' - you know when all the goodies are so perfect that you don't know which to play with first?  And making the first cut in to a page is so hard?  All the paper on this layout is from one sheet, and I had used a large chunk of it on a secret project that can be revealed after Christmas.  When I had a pile of cut bits in front of me everything started flowing... no 'oh I can't cut this, I might need it later', no 'there's no point in cutting in to this sheet for that small amount'.  So this layout pretty much made itself and then the next one, and the one after! I had a string of semi circles sitting on my desk that I coloure

Friday Smiles

It was grey and cloudy, a tad chilly. It started to rain big fat drops that thud as they hit the windscreen. But it was a good day, such a good day. Yesterday, I was outside. Yes, just sat in the car. Four different car parks, nothing fancy, but outside. First time since July. It was a good day. Such a good day. Linking up at Friday Smiles.
