Grandmothers...

Here are a couple of layouts made with the wonderful Like For Ever March kit. My one remaining grandparent has been a little poorly recently and it has made me all sentimental.  I pulled out photos of all of my grandparents to scrap.  Ladies first... The first is made entirely from the kits contents. Wonkily cut mustard paper - that way on purpose! Buttons always remind me of my Grandmothers!  There were a good handful of buttons with the kit :) I fashioned the sequins and a button with offcuts of lace and tulle in to a little rosette and added it along with a party hat die cut to a glittered tag. Doesn't the lace tape look gorgeous?! The second layout was done with Mrs A's Butterfly challenge in mind.  I've added 2 rolls of washi tape and some wood butterflies from That Craft Place to the kit contents.  I felt the black alphas from the kit were too harsh so switched to brown and mustard from my stash. Washi tape corners, sequin and butto

Like For Ever

I have been looking for a British scrapbook kit club for a while.  I love Cocoa Daisy and a few of the other international kits but, uh, postage is expensive and takes forever!!  I was delighted to come across Nicola who has set up Like For Ever .  After faffing and procrastinating for a few days weeks I signed up.  It's no commitment so I can cancel any time - what can go wrong?  Well kit number one arrived last week.  I planned to take photos as I unpacked the kit... I didn't.  I got over-excited and jumped right in and started creating! Here are some photos of my part used kit.  There is tonnes here, right?  And it's not even a whole kit!! Look at the palette of embellishments... buttons... sequins... It is a gorgeous kit.  I don't think I have ever bought any Maggie Holmes products before and the majority of the kit is Maggie's collection, so already the kit is pushing and challenging me.  Not in a bad way, in a really really good way. So here

Easter...

I have a few Easter cards to share with you... I wonder if I will get them all shared before Easter?! I wanted to play with apertures and ribbon - I think this was successful!  The two ribbons are from the want it all bundle of organza dots from Crafty Ribbons . Entering at That Craft Place Thanks for stopping by!

& Perfectly Pudgy Baby Hands...

I pulled some bits from my white and green scrap folders to join in with Make My Monday 's 'green' challenge... And this is the layout that resulted.  I had a good splattering session with my green mists, layered up several green patterned papers and then used the lavish gold glitter stickers I have been hoarding!!  A tiny off cut of ribbon (see I use the tiny pieces that I keep!  I do!!) on the tag, a washi decorated mini paper clip (yep, I love these little paperclips!) and a few lengths of thin gold star washi. I think this layout has been the most fun to create - I love working with green! Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Smiles

This little bunny is naughty. This naughty bunny dug in the mud. This muddy bunny needed a bath. These bathed bunny paws are as clean as they will get! Linking at Annie's Friday Smiles  and Penny's Happy Friday

Easter Wreath

I find Easter a hard occasion to craft for.  To me Easter is a religious time, not a commercialised chocolate and bunny festival.  I've tried hard to top my Easter Garden project but time and energy got in my way this year.  (Still I have a few ideas tucked away for next year!!)  I have managed an Easter wreath.  Yes, it is bunnies and most things that I don't like about commercialised Easter but as a cute decoration I do like it... maybe I should drop the Easter connection and just call it a decorative wreath?! I started off with a polystyrene blank, ribbons, flowers, butterflies and gems. As I wound the ribbon round the polystyrene I secure it with small pins.  I made a hanging loop and used a few pins to secure it to the covered wreath.  It is not at all heavy so it doesn't need glue or extra fastenings. I've used the rabbit animal silhouette ribbons in Baby Maize and Lime Juice and some sheer dot organza in Apple  - all of which are exclusive to C

Candles

I'm going to show you my process for making a candle birthday card with a few snippets and off cuts... I collected a handful of trimmings and cut them down to different lengths between 2cm and 5cm.  The widths were approximately 0.5cm to 0.8cm.  With a pencil line lightly drawn on to my card blank for guidance I started to randomly stick a few rectangles down, varying the sizes, colours and widths. When I had a good covering of rectangles I drew little dashes at the top - these are the wicks and turn the rectangle in to candles. I watered down some neon acrylic paints and added some yellow watercolour paint.  When my permanent pen ink was dry I painted a flame atop each candle.  Using a round paint brush I just pushed the side of the bristles gently to the paper which makes a flame or petal shape.  I varied my flame colour slightly each time I loaded my brush. Once the first flames were dry I carried on adding more rectangles, wicks and flames.  As the card got

Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my stop on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Monthly Blog Hop .  You hopefully have come from Tina 's, if you've just stumbled across this post and you'd like to start at the beginning of the hop pop over to CKC for the whole list. My layout is a take on challenge 1 - crazy with borders .  Some of you might remember I am pulling an item out of my stash each month and using it all up.  This months product, purely coincidentally, was some die cut border strips! I've obviously not been inspired by them as they are at least eight years old!  I decided to stick them all on one side of a 12x12, gesso over them and play with some inks.  I used 4 colours of India ink (I have the Dr PH Martins set) and a water spritzer and let loose.  I find I get better mixed media results when I don't think too much! When the background was done I looked at it for a few days wondering what on earth I was going to do with it!  I teamed it with a sleepy baby p

Exhausting

Hello!  I'm sharing a sweet layout made from my Counterfeit Kit today. This photo is one of my all time favourite photos of one of my all time favourite people! And I did proper journalling!!  Goodness, what has happened?! The floral paper is by Cocoa Vanilla.  The aqua spotty paper was an envelope which I tore up - I'm trying to use torn edges as well as cut edges at the moment.  I'm all inspired by watching videos on You Tube! The rub ons I used were nice to me and went down really well and sequins - well, everything is better with sequins!!  :) I was inspired by this Sparkle and Shine sketch - I rotated it though.  Can you see the diagonal line, the rectangle is my layers, the circle my photo and the sentiment my title?  By the end of the layout I was not sure if I could still see the sketch! Thanks for stopping by!

SODAlift - egr

I am a lucky bunny!  I am guest at SODAlicious' SODAlift this fortnight.  We are lifting a layout from Ceriz and here is my take... I've used papers from SODAlicious and flair, wood and stickers from Evalicious. For the mixed media part I used clear gesso, india ink and Derwent art bars.  I had a lot of fun with this, I should do mixed media more often - it's good to get multicoloured hands!! Thanks for stopping by

Ruby/Happy

Here are another couple of layouts from March's kit...  The first one I find a bit bland, but it is a story captured nonetheless.  This woodgrain paper has been in my last three kits and ended up unused... at least I have used it now!!  It turns out that I am not so good with using woodgrain! This next layout is based on denim paper from Cocoa Vanilla.  I bought three sheets but it wasn't enough.  I need more denim!!  The heart buttons are from Crafty Ribbons .  They, to me, are the cutest little embellishments! A little cluster at the top including a rub on and some 3mm grosgrain ribbon . And I used some photo corners.  I like these, so it is difficult to use them... I don't understand the hoard-it-it's-pretty mindset yet I still find myself doing it! Thanks for stopping by!

It's Thursday, it's challenge day at Crafty Ribbons Challenges .  This fortnight the theme is everyone's old favourite - Anything Goes With Ribbon.  So we want to see anything you make that includes a bit of ribbon! I have made a layout using my new silhouette cameo, some old gift wrap and a handful of pretties from my Crafty Ribbons stash.    I've used lace , sale pack lace , swiss dots , birthday and sentiment ribbons and some buttons and arranged them in a rainbow.  I do love rainbows, they are so happy! I'm also really chuffed that I managed to get the green face clip on a layout.  I've got a few of these and so far have not really known how to use them! I'd like to enter this at; Avenue 613 All Crafts Challenge Not Just Cards Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to join us over at Crafty Ribbons Challenges!

Peek A Boo

Here is a layout made with the contents of March's counterfeit kit... I shunned the turquoise-y mints and went for the yellow and black & white combo.  The black and white patterned paper was a bit too much... it took over the photos so I scraped on a thin layer of gesso with a craft knife to knock it back a bit.  Then, for good measure, I flicked the rest of the gesso I had put on my palette on to the card. I tucked a piece of lace in to the top of the paper bag layer and added a mini paper clip. The alphas are cut aparts from SODAlicious.  The puffy star sticker is from Evalicious.  I spy a bit of a -licious trend... Thanks for stopping by, from, Lauralicious!

love you lots

Today I am going to walk through how I made this layout... First off I gather my supplies.  I find it much easier to make if everything is in arms reach.  The M.E. prevents me from getting up every two minutes to pick an extra piece of paper or a different embellishment, so I have found a little thought before hand means I can create much more freely and happily. I knew I wanted to use this cut file from my Silhouette Cameo.  (This is the second ever cut!  All very exciting!)  Unfortunately I don't know where the cut file is from - I scanned the web for freebies and saved them without noting what was from where, duh! I gathered these pretties to match and compliment the paper.  I always gather a little it more than I will actually use - a little safety net I suppose. And then I gathered some white for matting and layering the photo on.  I went with whites to stop the photo blending in with the background paper as they are similar colour palettes.  These are all
